Turkish Pudding (naughty but nice)
Welcome back to yesteryear-recipes, here is a free recipe of a wonderful dessert that I found in one of my old auntie’s cook books, the pages might be yellowing, but the recipes are just as great today as they were many years ago. This recipe is called Turkish Pudding, got plenty of goodies in it, have you heard of the old saying naughty but nice, well this is it.
Ingredients
- 1/2 box of gelatin
- 1/4 lb of dates
- 2oz of boiled rice
- 1/2 cup of pulverized (castor) sugar
- 1 tsp of vanilla
- 1 pint of whipped cream (vegetarians can use a cream replacement)
- crushed nuts
Time to start making the naughty but nice dessert,
First dissolve the gelatin, stir it to make sure that it is completely dissolved, now chop up the dates and mix them with the boiled rice, sugar and, the teaspoonful of vanilla. when you have mixed all this together, add them to the gelatin once this is done slowly pour in the whipped cream stirring while you do this, so that the whipped cream mixes well with all the ingredients, now pour the mixture into a mold and stand in the fridge until it as set. When ready decorate with the crushed nuts and serve with whipped cream.
Vegetarians should use a cream replacement.
I hope that you like you Turkish pudding, I know I do and so do the grandkids.
