Oriental Stewed Prawns

This is a great free seafood recipe that was sent into us from William. He states that his grandmother, whom originates from the Orient made this for the family often. We are getting some wonderful recipes from people who want to share the families favourite meals, that have been handed down in the family.

Ingredients

  • 3 dozen prawns (fresh is best, frozen if you haven’t time to clean and shell)
  • dripping(just enough for frying, if you prefer oil will be ok)
  • 1 large chopped onion
  • 1 tsp of curry power
  • 1 pint of stock (vegetable)
  • Salt and pepper for seasoning
  • Shall we get started in making this wonderful dish that William has sent in.

First clean and shell 3 dozen prawns (You can use frozen ready prawns if you wish). Heat the dripping in a large saucepan; when the dripping (or oil) is hot add the prawns, your chopped onion, salt, pepper and curry powder.

Now add the pint of stock that you have made (either fresh or stock cube) and let it simmer for approximately half an hour until prawns and onions are tender. Now your Oriental Stewed Prawns are ready to serve.

Serve on a bed of plain boiled rice or make a border of rice and garnish with fried parsley or fried shred Cabbage.

Flo and I are going to try this recipe, making it with fresh prawns and organic vegetables.
