OLD TIME VANILLA ICE CREAM
Ingredients
2eggs
1 can of sweetened condensed milk
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar (Don’t pack the brown sugar into the measuring cup, let it stay loose just as it comes out of the box).
1 pint of heavy whipping cream
1 pint of half and half
1/4 tsp salt
2 1/2 tablespoons of real vanilla extract
Just thinking about this ice cream is making my mouth water, so lets get started on making us some great old time vanilla.
Grab yourself a large mixing bowl and whisk two eggs, now open that can of sweetened condensed milk pour into the eggs and whisk together until thoroughly mixed. Then add a 1/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup brown sugar and again mix thoroughly.
Now add the 1 pint of heavy whipping cream, and the 1 pint of half and half, 1/4 tsp salt and the 2 1/2 tablespoons of real vanilla extract and mix. For the very best results (who wants anything less?), let the mix chill in the refrigerator for about four hours which allows the mix to “age” before you put it into the freezer, freezing it according to the directions with your ice cream freezer.
Once it is frozen scoop it into a dessert bowl and serve, I often put fresh berries with it to make a lovely dessert, but it tastes great on it own.
If you are concerned about the possibility of Salmonella from uncooked eggs, substitute an equivalent amount of Egg Beaters.
