MAPLE PENUCHIE
Hi everyone, today we thought that you would like a free grandma’s recipe for candy. Grandma use to say that the best candy was the homemade candy, and guess what? She was right. Here is a good old fashioned recipe, this came from one of her many books that we have. You can find this recipe and many more in our book Old fashioned candy recipes, which you can purchase from this site. We hope that you try this recipe, and enjoy it too.
MAPLE PENUCHIE
3 Cups maple syrup
1/4 teaspoon soda
1 Cup milk
Few grains of salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 Cup chopped nuts
1/2 Cup shredded coconut
Into the maple syrup, stir the soda, and add the milk and salt. Place over the heat and boil until a soft ball that can be easily handled will form in cold water or a temperature of 238 degrees is reached on the thermometer. Remove from the heat, add the vanilla, and allow the mixture to become entirely cold. Beat, and when it begins to get thick, add the nuts and coconut. Continue beating until the candy grows stiff but can be poured out. Pour in a buttered pan, cut, and serve.
Have fun.
Flo
