Jewish Sour Fish

Welcome back to yesteryear-recipes, here is another great recipe from years gone by. We found this one in Grandma’s cook books,  We are always so grateful to her for keeping these books so that we, her family can cook the meals and desserts that we loved so much for our families.  So please take this free and wonderful recipe and try cooking it for your families and see how much they like real fresh cooked food.  It healthy, natural and the best you can taste.

Ingredients

1 trout

1 sliced lemon

1 onion

2 tablespoon of vinegar

2-4 cloves

cinnamon

quarter cup of raisins

1 tablespoon of butter (or butter substitute if you vegetarian)

chopped parsley

1 tablespoon of brown sugar

fresh lemon juice

Take the trout and clean well.  Once cleaned  place in a dish, cover with the sliced onion,  sliced lemon, pour the 2 tablespoonfuls of vinegar over the fish, onions and lemon, now add the cloves and a pinch of pepper.

Once you have done this add the cinnamon (about half a teaspoon),  raisins and 1 tablespoonful of butter, and bake for approximately 45 mins on a low to medium heat, in the oven. (until you see the fish is soft and leaving the bone).  Just wait till you smell all those different aromas, they are wonderful.

When the fish is done, remove from the dish and place on a platter.  Plce the juice that the fish cooked in, into a saucepan, add some brown sugar, lemon juice and chopped parsley to the sauce; bring to the boil and pour over the fish.  Serve cold.  Garnish with parsley.

We hope that you enjoy this recipe.  We believe this is one of the best fish recipes we have found and tried.
