Hearty Venison Pot Roast

Hello and welcome bake to yesteryear-recipes for you free and wonderful recipe. Today’s recipe is from Hank, he as sent in this venison recipe.  He would like to share it  with everyone.  I like venison a lot, it is a very gamey meat strong in taste, it tastes a bit like beef but much stronger, you can only get veison in hunting season, so it can be abit expensive.  Why not try it.

Ingredients

1 (4lb) venison roast
2 tbsp flour
1 can whole tomatoes, sliced
2 medium onions, sliced
1 cup water
2 cloves garlic
1 tbsp garlic salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/4 cup vinegar
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tbsp worchestershire sauce
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp prepared mustard
1/4 tsp paprika

First of all take the flour and rub into the meat, now place in a pan of hot oil and brown well on all sides. (you can also do this in a dutch oven).

Now add the tomatoes, onions, water, garlic, garlic salt and pepper, pour into a casserole dish and cover, place in a hot oven. Let it cook slowly for approximatley 2 hours.

Combine remaining ingredients, pour over meat, cover cook until tender, 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

We hope that you enjoy this recipe.
