Curry Vegetables
Happy New year to you all, and welcome to the first free recipe of the New Year. We thought that we would start this year with a simple but spicy recipe. We found this Curry Vegetable recipe in the old paperwork of Granny’s.
With the weather slightly on the cold side, what better that to have a few warm spices to help you warm up.
Ingredients
1 cup of carrots (Sliced or diced)
1 cup of turnip (diced and cooked)
1 cup of green peas
1 onion
2 oz butter (or vegetarian substitute)
1 gill of cream (single/light) or fresh milk (or vegetarian substitute)
1 teaspoon of curry power (add a little more if you like it hot)
1 teaspoon of flour (plain)
1 teaspoon of lemon juice
lets get started
First fry the onions in the butter, careful not to brown. Once the onions have cooked a little add the curry power and flour.
Now stir in the cream or milk (whichever you are using), when boiling add the vegetables and let them cook slowly for 10 minutes, once the vegetables are cooked add the lemon juice, stir and serve.
We hope that you enjoy this first recipe of 2009. It’s easy, simple and quick and goes great with any meat dish or vegetarian dish. Just remember if Vegetarian replace the dairy products with vegetarian products.
