COUNTRY SYLLABUB

Hi, we have been looking for more recipes for you to try, and we found this one in a 1840′s recipe book. Grandma had some great books and of course those wonderful little pieces of paper that she wrote things down on. We hope you like this free recipe, its great and we love it. What a great fresh homemade drink.

Ingredients

Half pound of white sugar

Pint of sweet cider or white wine

1 grated nutmeg

3 pints of fresh milk

Here we go, Mix the white sugar with a pint of  cider, or the white wine; (not both).  Now grate in a nutmeg.

Prepare them in a large bowl, just before adding the three pints of milk, making sure that you are stirring it
occasionally with a wooden spoon. Now that this is ready be sure to let it be eaten before the froth disappears.

Please note that if you use cider, a little brandy will improve it.

This is such a simple drink recipe and is very good tasting, (we think so) and until you try it you won’t know if you like it.

If you add a little gelatin, this drink will become a wonderful dessert.
